Short Story 2ed Draft

"Matt can you do anything after school today?" "Nope got to go to work today. Sorry Cam." Matt said in his cool but very calm voice. Matt was walking home to his house on a cold winter day. He put his IPod in his ears and the walk went by quickly with listening to music. The reason Matt said no to Cam was because he was already going to free skate with Drew. Cam could not skate so Matt would call him later and ask him to come, but he can't skate so he would make up an excuse anyway. When Matt got home we said "Hi mom." to his mom and hopped in her car and started to drive to Drew's house. Drew's house was on the other side of town so the ride took about twenty minutes. At 3:05 he got to Drew's house and that is when the fun begin.       Once Matt got to Drew's house the two deiced that they wanted to go to free skate at the local skating rink. But after an hour or so Matt's dad texted him and it said "Matt you have to work the snack bar at free skate tonight". So the plan was, that while Matt is working at the snack bar, Drew will skate. it was 5:30 and we had to leave for the rink in ten minutes. Drew's dad drop the two of them of at free skate with there hockey bags and money, but the plan takes a little spin.      Once Matt got inside the door of the snack bar he looked at the shift schedule and saw that he was not on the list for friday. We also found out that free skate had gotten canceled and there was a house league hockey game. But each team only had five players and a goalie so Matt went on one team and Drew went on the other team. what the boys didn't know about the game was that it was the championship game. This was like putting two lion in a cage and watching them fight, with Drew and Matt. These were two of the most competitive kids ever. Every single sport they played together or against each other there was a huge battle. With ten minutes left in the game Matt got a text on his phone saying that we had a basketball game against the best team in the league in one hour and he would be there to pick us up in twenty minutes. Drew's team won the hockey game and right after the game the two boys rushed into the locker room to change for basketball. Matt's dad went and picked up the two boys and brought them to St.Agatha gym.      "I can't believe we only have seven players."  "We are going to get smoked if we only start with seven guys"  The game did start with St.Agatha only having seven players. it was such a great game. Drew had the best game ever. He scored twenty points! Matt had seven and with 3:00 left St.Agatha had the lead by two. But the boys got winded and lost the game by four. "Man you guys played the best game of your lives out there tonight. you guys played tough thirty six of forty minutes, and i think that is why we lost. We will probably play these guys tomorrow in the first round playoffs game at 1:30 here. Great game!"        That night the two boys slept over Matt's house in preparation for there two big games tomorrow. There championship basketball for snowball league and there St.Agatha's playoff game. The boys talked about what there plans were for beating each team and how they thought there football team would do in the fall. At ten forty Matt's dad drove to the High School gym and parked "Big Red" in an open space.(Big Red is Matt's dad's favorite thing in the world he loves almost as much as he loves Matt) The boys walk in and shake hands with there coach, Ray who has coached them for over five years now. The game started right away with Drew getting the jump ball and nailing a three pointer.       Matt and Drew's friend John, was also on the team and was very good at basketball. He was on the other team. He came down the court and fired a three and nailed it. Matt was covering him. "Come one man he is going to kill us you got to step up their defend him" Drew screamed from across the court. The game was tied at half time twenty one all. Drew had ten points and had been playing defences very well. Matt on the other had had only gotten five points and was playing horrible defense on John. If he doesn't step it up they will lose because John has seventeen points. With five seconds left Drew's team was down two and the ball. Matt set a pick on Drew's man and then drew had an open lane to the hoop. he made the lay up with two tenths of a second left to send the game into overtime.      The overtime period was set to be four minutes long. In the first over time not one person form either side scored a baskert or a three pointer. Second overtime started with a fourty two, forty two tie. John hit a bunny lay up for a two points and a two point lead. Then Drew took the ball up the court. Matt was wide open under the basket and Drew riffled a pass into his chest and Matt put it up and in for two. Running down the court Drew yells "There you go we need this we tied one more minute I got this". Jonh comes down the court and throws an arent pass to one of his teammates with ten seconds left. Matt passed the ball into Drew and Drew lets it role down the court to evoide the clock from starting. The second Drew picked up the ball and chant of "TEN, NINE, EIGHT" begain right away once again Matt set a pick on Drew's man and cut to the basket. But there was a defender right behind him and it was John.      Drew dribbled the ball to the left and then steped back and shot a fade away jumper from fifteen feet. The ball sailed throw the air everyone was quite and then Drew fell down on his back and face after a roll. The ball hit the backboard, hit the rim and went throw the net. Drew had just won the game for his team. When he finally realised that this is why everyone was cheering. Matt ran over helped Drew upa nd hugged him and said "We did it, we are the champions". "Hey, lets go get our tee shirts." Drew said. The boys went over and got a tee shirt that said "snowball champions". But he boys had little time to celebrate because they have a St.Agatha's playoff game. The boys were very tired but they still wanted to beat the team that had beat them two times before.      The game was very exciting. At halftime Drew's dad had some things to say "You guys are playing the best game of your lives. We are only down two pionts and we have them right where we want them. But to beat these guys you know what it will take, we just have to work a little bit harder and we will win the game. One last thing, if we beat these guys it is like a championship to me." Everyone yells "Ya'' and then the horn sounds. Now Drew's team has nine guyes and they played a great first half and an even better second half. The boys won the game by five points!! Everyone at St.Agathas gym was going nuts. thye had pulled off one of the greatest upsets ever. The team then played two more games and won them both they then, had to play the waiting game. They found out that they were playing the second worst team in the league, Gate of Heaven. The game was played on the TD Garden just like every year. St.Agathas won the game and the championship. This is a true storie of miracle.

For my story my character will live in a town just like Milton. He will be in our grade and he will love to play sports. The story will be about him playing all the sports in Milton. He will win a few games and lose a few as well. If he tries his hardest and is fully dedicated to everything he does he may accomplish the greatest goal in any sport. A championship! He will play football, basketball, baseball and, hockey.  My short story will be based on this idea.
